Kenya's gentle giants — from Amboseli's herds to Tsavo's red elephants
In Amboseli, massive tuskers lead their families across dusty plains with Kilimanjaro rising behind them. In Tsavo, the famous "red elephants" roam one of the continent's largest wilderness areas. This safari takes you to three or four distinct elephant habitats, with guides sharing decades of elephant behavior knowledge. An optional visit to the Nairobi Elephant Orphanage (David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust) can be incorporated.

Do I need prior experience for a specialty safari?
Not at all. Whether you're a seasoned birder with a life list or someone picking up binoculars for the first time, our guides meet you where you are.
Can I join a specialty safari as a solo traveler?
Absolutely. Solo travelers are warmly welcome on all group specialty safaris — many guests find their best travel friendships on small-group wildlife trips. Most accommodations are priced for double occupancy and we will do our best to pair you with another solo traveler. If there are no other solo travelers or you prefer to room alone, a single supplement will apply.
When are departure dates announced?
We announce departures seasonally, planned around the optimal time of year for each specialty. Contact us and we'll notify you as dates are confirmed.
What equipment do I need to bring?
We'll send a full packing and equipment list once you book. For photography, any camera system works. For birding, binoculars are strongly recommended.
What if my group wants to combine two specialty interests?
That's a perfect case for a Private Safari, where we can blend both interests into a custom itinerary. Learn more →
What's included in the safari price?
Accommodation, most meals from arrival to departure, water, specialist guide fees, park and conservancy fees, and ground transportation. International flights and most drinks other than water are not included.
